When the block begins to slide down at \theta = 30o,  that means \mu = tan 30o = \sqrt{1/3}.  Then the retardation of the block when projected up the plane is given by a = g sin \theta + \mu g cos \theta.  Then from v ^{2} - u ^{2} = 2 a s, you can find the distance along the plane as 5 m.
