When satellite rotate in any orbit the direction of satellite of keeps changing therefore velocity of the satellite changed because velocity is a vector quantity and we can change a vector by changing it`s magnitude as well as direction. Also the magnitude also changes because the orbits are not perfectly circular so the gravitational pull also varies.
