Two springs are connected as in the figure. F₁ = -k₁x² and F₂ = -k₂x. Let AB = l, rod is massless. Force F is applied at O. AO = y.

Find the equivalent spring constant for 0 < x <<1 (small displacement).

Please explain what exactly is meant by equivalent spring constant here, and how to find it.
