Four forces acting on apoint .The first force is 200 N acting due north ,the second is 100 N acting due south ,third force is 500 N acting East and the fourth is 300 N acting west . What is the magnitude and direction of the resultant force?

Dear student 
Effective force along north direction=200j-100j=100j (j is unit vector along y axis)
Effective force along east direction=500i-300i=200i(i is the unit vector along x axis)
Now the net force=100j+200i
Magnitude of force  = 223.606 N
Direction of resultant force = tan^-1(1/2)
