Work done by a body on a system is equal to the scalar product of the force acting on the body and displacement of the body.
W = F. s
= Fs cos ϕ …… (1)
Where ϕ is the angle between F and s.
If there is no displacement, then there is no work. When you push against a wall, if the wall does not move, then there is no work. But still you feel tired, because at that time your body does some work internally by the motion of molecules in the body and loses some internal energy, which will convert into heat. Therefore you become physically tired when you push against a wall, fail to move it, and therefore do no work on the wall.
