In your case we observe sin(vt) which has argument as a distance hence incorrect dimensionally.

No it does not have dimensions any sin function does not have dimensions as sin is a ratio of two same quantities

It does not matter what is inside.
sine of any angle is 
(Length of side adjucent to right angle)/(length of hypoteneus).
So it is basically ratio of two length.
So it does not have any unit.

Its a general thing that trigonometric argument are dimension less bcos a angle is ratio of lengths so since a ratio have no units the same way it dosent have
