Derive an expression for elastic potential energy stored in a spring. (With diagram)

Since Diagram is not possible to attach here in the answer and though it is not necessary required just give a glance to the derivation,
Derivation =>
Force exerted by spring is given as = – kx 
where k is the spring constant and x is the expansion or contraction.
and -ve sign is because the spring force always acts oppsoite the displacement.
Energy = dW = Fdx = > -kx dx 
Integerating both sides we get,
W = -k (x^/2) {limit from 0 to x )
we get final potential energy stored in the spring as :
W = ½ (kx^2)
