You could not weigh yourself on a scale whose maximum reading is less than your weight.
The downward force of the Earth’s gravity acting on the body is called the weight of the body. The force of the Earth’s gravity on the body is the same whether it is at rest or falling; the force has magnitude mg and a direction toward the center of the Earth. In terms of magnitude, the weight W is
W = mg …… (1)
Weight measured as the unit of force such as pounds and newtons.
Let us consider your mass is 60 kg, but the maximum scale reading is up to 50 kg.
To find out the weight of the body, substitute 60 kg for mass m and 9.80 m/s2 for acceleration due to gravity g in the equation W = mg,
