Dear Student

Lunar eclipse and solar eclipse are the two physical phenomena involving the Earth in which the Earth cannot be treated as a particle. In the lunar eclipse Earth lies between the Sun and the Moon so that the Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon. But in the solar the Moon lies between the Earth and the Sun so that our view of the Sun is partially or totally blocked. Therefore lunar eclipse and solar eclipse are the two physical phenomena involving the Earth in which the Earth cannot be treated as a point masses.
