Yes, the acceleration of the body can change its direction without velocity changing its direction.
For example, consider a car moving on a highway accelerating at a rate when the driver puts his feet on the accelerator. At this moment the velocity vector and the acceleration vector points in the same direction.
After some time, the driver takes his feet off the accelerator of the car and the car start decelerating. At this moment, the car moves in the same direction such that its velocity vector is in the same direction as it was before, but the acceleration vector has changed its direction to account for the deceleration.
