To calculate the hydrostatic difference in blood pressure between the brain and the foot, we use the hydrostatic pressure formula:

Pressure difference (ΔP) = ρgh

where:
ρ = density of blood (approximately 1060 kg/m³)
g = acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s²)
h = height difference (1.83 m)

Now, substituting the values:

ΔP = (1060 kg/m³) × (9.81 m/s²) × (1.83 m)
ΔP = 19038.798 Pa

Since 1 mmHg ≈ 133.322 Pa, we convert the pressure difference to mmHg:

ΔP = 19038.798 Pa / 133.322 Pa/mmHg
ΔP ≈ 142.8 mmHg

Thus, the hydrostatic difference in blood pressure between the brain and the foot in a person of height 1.83 m is approximately 142.8 mmHg.
