An evacuated box is at rest on a frictionless table. You punch a small hole in one face so that air can enter. (See Fig.) How will the box move? What argument did you use to arrive at your answer?

As the air molecules get into the box, they collide against its box and impart momentum to it. The upward momentum imparted by the air molecules get balanced by the downward momentum of the box, however due to the presence of hole, the same cannot take place for the vertical sides of box.
Therefore the momentum imparted by the air molecules to the left exceeds the momentum imparted towards the right, as a result the object start moving towards left with some speed.

The box will move in the direction of hole. Pressure inside the box will be small while it will be large outside the walls having no hole. Due to this difference in pressure box will move from higher to lower pressure ( in the direction of hole)
