question mark

An aeroplane is travelling horizontally at height 1200m above horizontal ground when a parachutist of mass 80kg steps out of the aeroplane and falls freely under gravity with negligible air resistance. After falling x metres, he opens his parachute, and is then subject to a vertical resistive force of 1120N. When the parachutist reaches the ground, the vertical component of his velocity is zero. Find x and the total time taken for the fall.
