Although the general formula for max. range of a projectile that is projected from some level above the ground with an angle theta can be found by using the equation of trajectory, yet I have also been told by my teacher that max. range can also be derived by double differentiating the known expression for range of a projectile. I tried to differentiate the expression which I have attached in the picture but I was not able to do so. Also I'm not sure if I'm doing it the correct way. Please explain me how can one use the method the differentiation on that expression. Thank you in advance.
