We see that the water divides the candle into 2 equal halves.
So total mass of candle = mass of water displaced
So clearly
density of candle is half of water.
Since that is the case , water will always divide the candle into 2 equal halves. So
if the top of candle gets burnt by 2cm/hr then candle will become 2 cm shorter on top.
So now water will again divide the candle into two equal halves , water will push the candle by 1cm.
So candle will fall by 1cm/hr.
