Please find the answer to your question
The free body diagram of wire is given below. If ℓ is the length of wire, then for equilibrium 2E sin θ = W.
F = S x ℓ
or, 2S x ℓ x sin θ = λ x ℓ x g
or, S = λg / 2sin θ
∴ S = λg / 2y / a = a λ g / 2 y [∵ sin θ = y /a]
