A uniform chain of length l and mass m over hanfs a smooth table with one third lying on the teble. The Kinetic Energy of the chain as it completely slips off the table.

when chain slips off total work done will be zero. By work energy theorem W.D. = Diffrence of K.E + difference of P.E. Hence, K.E.= Difference ot P.E. Hence, K.E. = (mgl/2) – (2mgl/9) = 5mgl/18. Where mgl/2 is final P.E. and 2mgl/9 is initial P.E. and intially K.E. will be zero as chain is resting
