A stationary horizontal uniform circular disc of mass m and radius R can freely rotate about its axis . Now it starts experiencing a torque τ = aθ+ b. where θ is the angular displacement of disc and a and b are positive constants. Find the angular velocity of the disc as a function of θ.

We know that , τ = Iα ⇒τ = Idωdθ ⇒ τ dθ = I dω ⇒ [aθ+b]dθ = I dωTaking integration on both sides , we get ,aθ^2/2+ bθ = Iω , where moment of inertia , I = 12MR2 .
