If density of liquid be ౮ thenWeight in liquid will be mg - ౮Vg =4.5 as mg =5 then ౮Vg =0.5 and let density of water be p then weight in water is mg-pVg = 4 then pVg= 1 then ౮Vg/pVg = 1/2 then specific gravity of liquid ౮/p = 1/2.Hope it clears.
