Let the acceleration of both the blocks be a when a force F is applied to them. now the acceleration of the system = Fnet/total mass a = F M 1 + M 2 and newtons second law force on mass M2 is F = M2 x a = M 2 F M 1 + M 2 = M 2 F M 1 + M 2 and force on M1 is M1xa M 1 F M 1 + M 2 = M 1 F M 1 + M 2
