the time taken will be s/v and here s(distance)=0.5 km and v(velocity)=40 km/h ,therefore the time taken will be 45 seconds .the flow is in a direction perpendicular to the direction of movement therefore there will not be any other force actinf in the way of crossing and it can be caalculated as usual.
