To find out the measured speed v of the particle in frame S, substitute 0.43c for v0, 0.587c for u in the equation v = (v0 + u) / (1 + v0u/c2),
v = (v0 + u) / (1 + v0u/c2)
= (0.43c + 0.587c) / (1+(0.43c) (0.587c)/c2)
= 1.017c / (1+0.2524)
= 0.812c
From the above observation we conclude that, the measured speed v of the particle in frame S would be 0.812c.
