Hello Student,
We have to make sure that range of the particle project is just enough to cross the ball.
=> Range = (R+Rcot\theta)*2
=>2*v sin\theta*vcos\theta/g = (R+Rcot\theta)*2
=>v^2sin\theta*cos\theta=R(1+cot\theta)
=>v^2=R(1+cot\theta)/sin\theta*cos\theta
