Greetings!Gravity only acts along the y-axis. So the work done would be asking the y-axis. Work done =potential energy=mgh. Here,height=max height of projectile which is u^2sin^2 theta/2g.Work done= m*g*u^2sin^2 theta/2g= mu^2sin^2 theta/2Hence, the work done is mu^2sin^2 theta/2.
