If you draw a grpah of the problem, a triangle will be formed with base as total time taken = t₁+t₂

time for acceleration t₁

time for deceleration t₂

The height will the maximum velocity.

Area of the triangle is the distance travelled, so

s = 0.5vt = 0.5*8*4 = 16 m
