g-a , g
Ball falls with an acceleration of ” g”. As the lift is moving with an acceleration of “a”
acceleration of ball w.r.t man =acceleration of ball – acceleration of man
As in first case acceleration of man is ‘a’ answer becomes g-a
and in second case acceleration of man is 0 the answer becomes ‘g’

2 option.
explanation-for a man in the lift concept of relativity is used ,therefore accceleration will be = (g-a )
for person on the ground, ma=mg implies a=g

Answer
Lift is accelerating downwards, so acceleration of lift w.r.t. ground alg=a
Acceleration of ball w.r.t. ground abg=g
Acceleration of ball w.r.t. lift abl=abg−alg=g−a
