The correct option is (C) Both the mass and the weight of the rock are important.
We have to measure the force acting on our toe due to rock.
The downward force of Earth’s gravity acting on the rock is called the weight of the rock. Therefore weight is the gravitational force on the rock due to the earth. Weight of the rock (W) is equal to the mass of the rock times (m) acceleration due to gravity at the surface of earth (g).
So, W = mg
Also force is the rate of change of momentum. Therefore the region where there is no gravity (g = 0), the collision of two body will totally depend upon their masses.
Thus, if a large rock falls on our toe, both the mass and weight of the rock are important in determining how much it hurts.
From the above observation we conclude that, option (C) is correct.
