A bomb of mass m is projected from the ground with speed v at an angle @ with the horizontal. At the maximum height from the ground it explodes into two fragments of equal mass. If one fragment comes to rest immediately after explosion then the horizontal range of the centre of mass is what???

In this case the net external force on the system is 0. It is totally a result of internal forces which do not change the position or velocity of CENTRE OF MASS. So the centre of mass will follow the normal expected trajectory, where RANGE is given by u2sin2theta/g.
