Dear Student,
In view of Newton's second law. "Net Force on a body breaks even with result of its mass and increasing speed." We have to locate the net drive I.e the resultant of all powers on the kid.
We have been given the accompanying powers
1. Gravitational constrain descending =40g ~400N
2. Typical response upward on the kid from the measuring machine=weight of the kid appeared on the measuring machine=300N
Net upward compel on the boy=total outer upward constrain add up to outside descending force=300N-400N= - 100N
Net upward acceleration(again from second law)= - 100/40= 2.5m/s^2
Cheers!!
