a boat is rowed with a velocity of 12 km/hr across the river which is flowing with a velocity of 4 km/hr. Determine the distance traveled by the boat along the river when it reaches the other bank of river.the wide of the river is 600m.

As far as I can say , they question seems incomplete , there should be an angle associated with it . The distance travalled would then be (Vr-Vbrsinx)t which  is equal to (Vr-Vbrsinx)W/Vbrcosx  (using T = W/Vbrsinx) , where Vr is velocity of current Vbr is relative velocity of boat and x is the angle made by the boat with the the line normal to the stream  and W is the Width of the river . Hope this helped . Just learnt this topic couple of days back ..
