Vcom = (M*0 + m*v)/(M+m) = > mv/(M+m) m/s.           
Initial velocity of block of m w.r.t Centre of Mass of system
= > v – Vcom
=> v – mv/(M+m)
=> [Mv + mv – mv]/(M+m)
=>Mv/(M+m) m/s.
