A block of mass 1 kg is connected to a fixed wall through a light spring of constant k=100 N/m. The surfaces are frictionless. Initially spring is in relaxed position. A horizontal force 'F' of 50N is applied on the block. Find the maximum elongation of the spring..

work done by force will store as spring energy
F.*x = ½*K*x2
x = 2F/K
x = 2*50/500 = 0.2 m
Hope it clears.........
