A bicycle wheel spinning in a vertical plane can be supported from one end of the axle; the axle simply precesses. What "holds up" the other end of the axle? In other words, why doesn't the bicycle wheel fall?

							The bicycle does not fall because it establishes the vertical equilibrium against the gravitational force. This is accomplished by an upward force at the other end of the fixed axle (as shown in the figure below).
