A balloon contains 500 m 3 of hydrogen. If the mass of the balloon without hydrogen is 30kg.Its net lifting ability is (Density of hydrogen = 0.09 k g / m 3 , Density of air = 1.3 k g / m 3 )

Mass of the liquid displaced = volume of hydrogen x density ofhydrogen
= 500 x 0.09
= 45 kg
The lifting ability of the balloon is 45 kg
