write the eqn. for the ball.
h = ut – 0.5gt^2............................(1)
solve the quadratic eqn. (1)
and u would get the two values of t in terms of u and h.
here both the time would be acceptable as It was observed at a height h twice with a time interval delta t.
thus,
one root suppose let t1 and the other say t2.
both has differene of t or for samll t that is dt.
Therefore,
t1 - t2 = dt
Thus solving the all eqns.
u would get (dt)^2 make that zero as it is ver small.
u would get finally,
u = root(2gh).
