Dear Student,
The ball will follow a parabolic path.
When a ball is released from rest from a moving train the air force will create a sudden forward velocity and acceleration due to the moving wind force.
Gradually due to acceleration due to gravity of earth, the velocity will slow down and it will fall in a parabolic path.
its all upto your imagination.

Cheers!!

Physics is all about frame of referance so ,,
according to question , motion of ball w.r.t passenger or man who relases the ball will be parabolic due to gravity and initial velocity which was gained by ball due to contact with hand, in train as non inertial frame of reference.

motion of ball with respect to man standing on the ground watching ball will be linear or straight path due to in ground frame of referance it (ball) will be acted upon only by gravitational force … whatever in your posted question frame is not given so it answer should be (B) parabolic because only man is given in question so question is must be asked in his frame of referance.
it is understoodable..
regards.
hope that it was clear to you

With respect to person outside the train the path wouldbe parabolic this is because the equation of trajectory is a quadratic equation in form of x therefore it will be following a parabolic path.
