Moment of inertia, also called rotational inertia, is a measure of an object's resistance to changes in its rotation rate. It is the rotational analog of mass, the inertia of a rigid rotating body with respect to its rotation.
moment of inertia also tells us roughly how mass is distributed in the body .if for same mass moment of inertia is greter then larger portion of mass is distributed away from the rotational axix. in comparision to those body which has less mment of inertia
