Dear student,
Use the following steps to solve the problem:
  • There is a conservation of momentum.
  • The bodies change their direction after collision.
  • Thre is a loss in energy and so the final energy is less than the initial velocity.
Using this, there would be three equations, which need to be solved to get the loss in energy.
