An elevator is going up with an upward acceleration of 1m/s^2. At the instant when its velocity is 2m/s, a stone is projected upward from its floor with aspeed of 2m/s relative to the elevator, at an elevation of 30 degree.
(1) Calculate the time taken by the stone to return to the floor.
(2) If the elevator was moving with a downward acceleration= g, how would the motion be altered?
I stand in the elevator frame and observe.
as(relative)=10-(-1)=11m/s2
Initial velocity relative to the lift:2 m/s
T=(4xsin30)/10
=0.2 sec.
Doing from ground frame motion will be a projectile only, from the elevator frame it will be a straight line.
