a projectile of mass m is projected at an angle Θ to the horizontal, the projectile at highest point breaks into two fragments of equal masses. one of the fragments retraces its path to the point of projection the velocity of other fragment just after explosion is.

Dear ramya

at highest point projectile has horizintal velocity =vcosΘ

one fragmant part can retrace the path only when it has velocity =vcosΘ in the reverce direction

lat the velocity of other part is v1

so

mvcosΘ=m/2(-vcosΘ) +m/2 v1

v1=3vcosΘ
