it is adviced to take smaller step while walking on icethis is so to increase friction or to decrease friction , in hc verma book it is given to decrease frictn while in other it is to increase friction

It is advised to take smaller step while walking on ice in order to decreases the friction as mentioned in H.C.Verma.

It is advised to take smaller steps while walking on ice rather than larger steps in order to resist relative motion of solid surfaces, fluid layers, and material elements sliding against each other. Hope , this helped you.
