The force required to just move a body up the inclined plane is double the force required to just prevent the body from sliding down the plane. The coefficient of friction is µ. If ß is the angle of inclination of the plane then tan ß is equal to (a) µ (b) µ (c) 2µ (d) 0.5µ

SINCE THE GIVEN INFORMATION IS THAT FORCE(F)=2FRICTIONAL FORCE (F*)....................(1)

CLEARLY FROM F.B.D IN THE TANGENTIAL DIRECTION F=mg sinB + (F*).............................(2)

AND ALSO IN THE PERPENDICULAR DIRECTION N= mg cosB .......................................(3)

SINCE THE FRICTION FORCE IS MAXIMUM THEREFORE F*= µN..............................(4)

BY USING THIS EQUATIONS WE GET TAN(A)=µ........................... ANSWER
