1-what is the diffrence between average speed and average velocity?
2-plz answer the problem..............
a motor car is going due north at a speed of 50 km/hr.it makes a 90 degrr left turn without changing its speed.the change in the velocity of the car is about---------------------
options:50 km/hr towards west
70 km/hr towads south west
0
plz explain me
1)average speed is the total distance travelled by a body in a given time
whereas average velocity is the total displacement of the body in the given time with specific direction
2)its 70km/hr towards south west
because let N-S dirn. say j-direction
& E-W say i-dirn.
hence initial vel=50j
final vel=50i
& hence change in vel= final- initial
=50i-50j
= ie 50√2 in south west direction
=70km/hr in south west dirn.
all the best
