Two blocks of equal mass(m) are tied to each other through a light string. One of the blocks is pulled along the line joining them with constant force F. Find the tension between the strings joining the blocks.

Constraint Motion. Both bodies have same acceleration.

 

F-T = ma  (first body)

T = ma (second body)

 

F-2T = 0

or, T = F/2

the blocks move with constant acc.

a=f/(m+m)

a=f/2m

----------}F

the boy moves with the same acc.

so according to the free body diagram

T=massxacc.

T=mxF/2m

T=F/2
