what is the exact difference between slipping and sliding?
Hi Rituaparna,
It is just a way of denoting.
Sliding is the case when the body has absolutely no angular velocity and only purely skids on a surface. Like a block sliding down an inclined plane.
And slipping is the case where there is an angular velocity of the body, but the point of contact of the body also slips (meaning the relative velocity between the point of contact and the surface is non zero).
Regards,
Ashwin (IIT Madras).
well i thihnk the moment just after there is imbalnce the body slipes and after sometime it will be only translating so i think it willbe sliding
