A train stopping at two stations 4km apart takes 4 minute on the journey from one of the station to the other. Assuming that it first accelerates with a uniform acceleration x and then that of uniform retardation y. prove that 1/x+ 1/y = 2

Dear Naman,

First of all convert all the given data into SI units.

Since it is not given that  the train moves with a uniform velocity thats why we can assume that half of the distance is accelerated and another half retarded that is  x = y

Therefore the given statement is also proved.

Best Of luck
