A solid sphere of mass m is placed on a rough incline plane. The coeff of friction is insufficient to start pure rolling. The sphere slides length L from rest and its KE becomes K. Find work done by friction.

energy conservation

mgLsintheta = K + work done by friction      [theta is the angle of inclination ]

work done by friction = mgLsintheta - K

work done by gravity=mgLsin(theta), work done by friction is obviously negative, but let it have a magnitude 'Wf',

mgLsin(theta)-Wf=K,lWfl=mgLsin(theta)-K,Wf=K-mgLsinθ
