If any one having hc verma, pls refer pg no 154 example no. 19.here cann't i solve this question by some other method.like i've solved it like this when the spring will be stretched maximum,it has no further extension left,so at that point both the masses have same accleration.and if we'll suppose the maximum extension to be x.then two forces will be working on both the blocks in opposite direction.kx will be on mass m in right direction and the same force kx would be in left direction on the block of mass M.and the force will also be working on the right most block equal to f.so by equating the accleration of both the blocks we get a extension as (mf)/k(m+M).half of the answer of hc verma.why's it happening witn me only.where i've comitted the mistake.pls help me out.
