is friction necessary for rolling without slipping in followning cases

1. plane horizonal surface

2. up the inclined plane

3. down the inclined plane

pl answer... if possibel give some tps and reason also...

no, friiction is not necessary when it comes to rolling on a plane horizontal 'non accelerating' surface.... this is because, if u give the rollin body that much of velocity and angular velocity to attain zero velocity of the instantaneous axis of rotation (the bottom most point in this case),then the work of friction will be nullified....

but the scenario is not the same in case of rollin in inclined plane because will always experience a component of gravitational acceleration... so a torque from the friction is necessary here to provide the required angular acceleration to maintain rolling without slipping.....
