A uniform rod of mass M and length L is standing vertically along the Y axis on a smooth horizontal surface. A small disturbance causes the lower end to slip on the smooth horizontal surface and the rod starts falling. What is the path followed by the centre of mass during the fall?

force on cetrer of mass is acting along y axis , so during motion of rod  motion of center of mass is onlyis along y axis ...

initially there is no horizontal velocity of center of mass so at any time there is no motion of center of mass along x axis...

path of center of mass will be straight line
